While an undergraduate student at the University of Florida, Anu couldn't believe how many of her friends had signed up for multiple credit cards, lured by the prospect of receiving a free slice or pizza, or a free t-shirt. Born and brought up in England, she didn't fully understand how credit worked in the US, but knew that their actions must have some sort of negative consequence if mishandled. After doing some research, she decided to share her findings and during her junior year, ran a program called "Finance101" - a series of workshops for college students focusing on money management, credit cards, banking, saving and investing.
Her passion for teaching financial education has continued to grow since graduating from college. Last winter she co-led a six-month personal finance series to eighth grade students in the Bronx through High Water Women (a non-profit started by senior women in the hedge fund industry) and in July 2010 was asked to lead a two-hour personal finance workshop for teens from the READ foundation.
She spends many weekends volunteering with the financial literacy focused non-profit, Operation HOPE in Harlem, where she teaches basic computer courses to adults, a program she started in August 2009. She also leads the Young Women's Council - an initiative through High Water Women, and is a board member of the University of Florida Alumni Association.
When Anu isn't working at her day job as a hedge fund client service analyst at Neuberger Berman, she enjoys watching Florida Gator Football, rock climbing, kayaking, photography, cooking, discovering New York City and making greeting cards.
